A Century Plant on the east rim of Oak Creek Canyon found along Harding Springs Trail. It was named "century plant" because of the plant's "once a century" bloom (in reality the plant lives about 25 years). It blooms just once, at the end of its long life, then dies. The Century Plant was important to indigenous people, being used for medicines, fiber, needles, and food.
